Dumaine, tanley Klein, and Albert B. 25-Year Club Picnic Attracts Big Crowd Long-service employees of the Com pany—men and women with service re cords ranging from 25 to 55 years of continuous service—were guests of honor at a picnic in Morehead Stadium Satur day afternoon, September 12. The event marked the 17th annual meeting of the Fieldcrest Mills 25-Year Club. It was one of the best attended outings yet held. The Club was organi zed in 1943 with 106 members. It has grown to a membership of 1154, includ ing 63 new members who became eli gible for membership by completing 25 years’ service since last September 30. A talk by President Harold W. Whitcomb was the highlight of the pro gram. He expressed appreciation for the faithful service of the veteran employ ees and stated that the loyalty and skill of its long-service employees are the (Continued on page four) Each Employee Asked To Pledge Minimum of 25c As Weekly Deduction Fieldcrest men and women will play a prominent part in the Community Fund Campaign to be conducted in the Tri-Cities October 5-10. The communi ty-wide goal is $50,508, representing the 1960 budget needs of the nine partici pating agencies. Included are the following health, welfare and recreational organizations serving local people: Y. M. C. A.’s, Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Boys Club, Girl Scouts, Rescue Squad and Carolinas United. The goal this year Is somewhat larger than in the past since the entire bud getary needs of the Boys Club are in cluded and the Salvation Army is be ing reinstated. Last year only a part of the support of the Boys Club was from the Com munity Fund and the Boys Club made solicitations from individuals, businesses and clubs. Also, the Salvation Army was not included in the united drive and made door-to-door tambourine collec tions in the business section. Since Fieldcrest is the Tri-Cities’ largest employer, the success of the (Continued on page four) Drafting Course To Be Televised By Channel 4 An Engineering Graphics course will be televised by WUNC-TV starting Tuesday, September 22, under the au spices of the School of Engineering and the College Extension Division of North Carolina State College. Viewing time for the course will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:45 p. m. to 7:30 p. m. The TV course will be of interest to Fieldcresters who deal with drawings, plans, specifications and other data nor mally supplied by engineering design departments. Employees desiring further informa tion about the course should write the Division of College Extension, P. O. Box 5125, State College Station, Ra leigh.
